Dr. Eugene Sawyer, Medical Director

Dr. Sawyer graduated from Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio and earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1978. Dr. Sawyer also has a Masters Degree in Health Administration from the University of Detroit Mercy. He also has done additional graduate studies in Environmental Health at the Medical College of Wisconsin and in Public Health at the University of Illinois-Chicago. He is a Diplomate (board certified) of the American Board of Preventive medicine in Occupational Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Occupational & Environmental Medicine.

Charissa Shawcross, APRN, Director of Health Services

Charissa Bredow-Shawcross received her B.S. in Nursing from Wayne State University. She earned her M.S. in Nursing with a specialty in Advanced Medicine/Surgery, Adult and Family Health from Wayne State University in 1993. Ms. Shawcross is a United Methodist Church and Community Worker (Methodist Missionary) who has been commissioned to provide health care services to the Joy-Southfield Health & Education Center and the N.O.A.H. project. She is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, The American Heart Association and Sigma Theta Tau, Lambda Chapter.
